About

Why LANDMARK exists

The web remembers loudly and forgets fast. The names that actually build it — the teams shipping the tools everyone depends on, the people writing the code, the research, the essays — scatter across feeds that reset every morning. There is no permanent place that says: these are the ones moving things, right now, measured honestly.

LANDMARK is that place. A single canvas where every position is computed from public, auditable signals — engineering gravity, global press, what communities actually discuss, scholarship. No jury, no nominations, no sponsored seats. The algorithm decides who appears and where; it gets re-decided every month, from scratch, for everyone equally.

“You can't buy your way in.
You can only claim what's already yours.”

The one rule. Everything else follows from it — read the full methodology.

Independent of the industry it measures

Most "best of" lists are written by the industry they cover — sponsored placements and PR pitches dressed up as editorial judgment. LANDMARK works like a rating agency, not a magazine: the algorithm has no commercial relationship with anyone it ranks, and never will. The names with the biggest budget for visibility get exactly the same vote as everyone else — none.

How this is run

  • · The ranking is recomputed every month from twelve public sources. Methodology is public; the scoring engine is open source.
  • · Claiming requires proving you are the entity — work email or GitHub. Payment without identity is rejected by design.
  • · Payments are processed by Paddle (Merchant of Record). Cancel anytime; refund policy here.
  • · Being indexed is free and always will be. Don't want to appear? Opt out in two minutes — no questions asked.
  • · Every closed cycle is preserved in the public Historical Archive. We keep our own history because we plan to be around for it.

Who's behind it

LANDMARK is built and run by one independent developer. No fund, no growth team, no dark patterns — one person with a strong opinion about recognition on the internet: merit decides who appears — nothing else.
